The time has come for you to own this rare piece of history that you have been waiting your whole life to purchase.
For sale today is an immaculate 1955 Volkswagen Beetle that has been restored to near perfect original quality.
1955 was a pivotal year for VW, on August 6th 1955 the one millionth beetle was produced. During this time major
changes were happening to the beetles body and components to reflect the 1956 and later beetles seen today. The
most well known and valuable one being the egg tail lights which were only produced for only 7 months for the 1955
beetle! (Oh yes this beetle has the original ones).
Extreme dedication was taken to make this into a period correct beetle that anyone would be proud to own. The
restoration was body off and the car originally came out of the Arizona desert and has matching numbers for the
body and pan. I even have receipts for everything which I will include in the sale!
Beetle information:
1955 Volkswagen Beetle- Vin 1-0815633 making it one of the earliest 55’s in January, with matching body and pan.
Title is Clear and in my name. Only 161 miles on the beetle since restoration!
Exterior: The exterior has been done beautifully with one of VW’s most rare colors L55 maroon red. You will not
find many beetles with this color because the color formula is incredibly difficult to find which in turn makes
this beetle a showstopper. If you don't believe me you can go to your auto paint store and ask for L55 maroon red.
This restoration was completed only 6 months ago so everything from the paint to the interior, brakes and engine is
either new or like brand new. The pans are all original as well as the heater channels of the beetle which both
required minimal work. All new gaskets were used from Wolfsburg West which is the premier quality parts
distributor. The egg tail lights are original with the VW stamp which are selling for over $1000. It has the early
style 4-tab hood and square gas tank with the correct gas cap. The tires are Coker Classic white wall radial tires
giving it a smooth ride. You can drive it to the store or win shows all the time, as my most recent win at the Bug
Blast 2016. This beetle is well known in the VW community especially on the Vintage Volkswagen Club of America
where pictures were posted throughout the build. I am selling my beetle since I will be attending graduate school
next semester.
Interior: Going with the period correct styling, I was able to obtain the interior from Lenny at West Coasts
Classics who imports from Germany the same material that was in the early Beetle when it was new. The seat material
is called Strifen Braun cloth, headliner is the original German cloth, and going above and beyond the the carpet is
the German square weave. The steering wheel and original horn button are in amazing shape and wheel has been
painted to match the seat frames. Much detail was taken as you can see.The interior panels have been also been
beautifully done. The interior alone costs $4, 000 not including having the original split window seats that are
going for $2000 for a nice complete set if you can find them. I have been building beetles for some time now and
did the upholstery work with the high density foam under for durability and comfort.
Engine/Trans: The engine is a period correct 36 hp that has been fully cleaned and then rebuilt using the top
quality parts from Wolfsburg West. Transmission is the original style split case and works perfect. Has new clutch
and bearing. So going through engine parts it has all new cylinder rings, crank bearings, valve guides and new
valves, gaskets, points etc. All tins professionally painted in black and cleared. I even upgraded to the 019
distributor to improve performance, these distributors are also a desired item because of their durability and
extra power when used in the VW busses. The muffler is also original with the VW stamp. The wiring is also new from
Wolfsburg West and I stayed with the original 6v system.
For all that are interested, I have spent many hours of time and money to make this one of the most beautiful 1955
beetles in my opinion. I know whoever buys this beetle will enjoy it as much as I have. The pictures don't even do
it justice, more be
