I am a 43-year-old C-4 quadriplegic paralyzed from my neck down. I currently receive my care from Aging and Disability Services (COPES program) in Tacoma, Washington. I have a caregiver (CNA) specifically trained to meet my needs in activities of daily living including my bowel program on alternative days.
A family friend has kindly paid for my wife and I to come on vacation to Honolulu, Hawaii for 10 nights 11 days from November 9th to November 19th.
Unfortunately due to the fact my caregiver’s wife is pregnant and her baby is due during this time, my caregiver is unable to travel with us.
I am trying to find a caregiver in Honolulu who can fulfill my needs during my vacation. I will require a caregiver to bed bath, dressed me and transfer me from bed to wheelchair this requires between 1 1/2 to 2 hours every morning. I would then require a caregiver to transfer me from wheelchair to bed each night this would take approximately a half an hour but on alternative nights I would require my bowel program which takes up to 2 hours.
